Chatham House
Actually the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is an independent policy institute based in London. the organization's goal is to stimulate debate and research on political, business, security and other key issues in the international arena. Its research centers around three major topics: energy, environment, and resource governance; international economics; and regional and security studies. The association publishes the journal International Affairs which is only available to members. The monthly magazine The World Today is also only for members, but the current issue is accessible for free on the website. However, all of the reports and briefing papers dating back to 1990 can be viewed in PDF format for free. There is also an online library cataloge for browsing.

As China's authorized government portal, this website includes a broad spectrum of officially-sanctioned information on China, including its government, business community, environment, sports, and travel. The Business page provides current information on major industry sectors, including finance, energy, technology and telecommunications, auto, textile, and tourism, among others. It also provides economic and trade statistics, business laws and regulations, and several full-text market reports.
China Today
China Today provides access to a broad array of background topics from general facts about the country to its cultures and traditions. Some of those topics pertaining specifically to business include finance and banking, investment opportunities, information technology, importing and exporting, and science and technology. Of particular note, the website includes a Who's Who section with biographical sketches and photographs of prominent Chinese individuals.

Congressional Documents
This searchable database, part of FDsys, the U.S. Government Printing Office's federal digital system, provides full-text documents beginning in 1975 in PDF format. This is a powerful database, using bill, treaty, and document numbers as well as keyword searching. Be sure to review the "helpful hints for searching Congressional documents" before starting your research.
Council on Foreign Relations
The CFR is a respected think tank publisher founded to promote U.S. citizen understanding of other nations and cultures. By promoting research and debate and through its publication of Foreign Affairs, the CFR is influential in the fields of foreign policy, national security, and foreign economic policy. You can view video clips of speakers; presentations at the Council's website, as well as current and past research, opinion pieces, and article citations. This is a very rich site for student research.
Economist.com
Providing excellent coverage of world news, the Economist.com also contains information on world markets, the latest exchange rates, and country and city guides geared to the business traveler. It is the companion site to the print journal The Economist. Although much of the site is free and fully searchable, the Economist.com does charge to view archived articles. Other portions of the site are considered to be premium content viewable by subscription only.

G8 Information Centre
Since 1975, the heads of governments of the major industrial democracies have been meeting annually to discuss major economic and political issues facing the international community. The issues consistently discussed at these meetings include international trade, macroeconomic issues, and relations with developing countries. Institute of International Education
IIE's programs incorporate research as well as training for business and government leaders. Research papers and reports are available in a number of areas including education, science and technology, human rights, journalism, and arts and humanities. The Institute also manages a number of fellowship and scholarship programs.
International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)
ICC is the world business organization promoting international trade, responsible business conduct and a global approach to regulation. It represents business interests at the highest levels of intergovernmental decision-making, whether at the WTO, the UN or the G20 ensuring the voice of business is heard.
International Conflict Research (INCORE): Conflict Data Service
This comprehensive database provides guides with up-to-date information and Internet resources on conflict and its effects on the issues permeating society in particular countries and regions. International Court of Justice
The ICJ, located in the Netherlands, is the chief judicial organ of the United Nations. Composed of 15 judges elected by the U.N.'s General Assembly and Security Council, the ICJ decides transnational issues such as border disputes, maritime law claims, use of force, and treaty enforcement. The website provides a docket of pending cases and links to citations of all cases and opinions the Court has refereed since 1946. This site is available in several languages.
International Crisis Group
This private multinational group collects field data to help international actors such as NGOs, nations, individuals, and IGOs respond to crisis situations. ICG maintains field projects in hot spots around the world, providing analytical reports to decision-makers. The searchable website, available in twenty different languages, offers the full text of all ICG reports. These are lengthy, detailed reports, ideal for research into crisis areas.

International Institute of Strategic Studies
A multinational think tank focusing on military strategy and conflict resolution. This large website includes pages on Mexico which cover statistics on GDP, exports, imports, tariff rates, tourism, and more. Other topics include cost of living, competitiveness, politics, economic outlook, and globalization. Use this site to look at Mexico in relation to other Latin American countries. It is current and well-organized.
National Foreign Trade Council
Member companies advocate for a rules-based world economy. Dedicated to advocacy in trade policy, export finance, international taxes, and human resources issues, the council works to advance open markets, fights protectionism, and advocates for the Export-Import Bank, IMF, and more. The council's site provides links to current news and information related to NFTC activities and Positions. The website also provides full-text white papers produced by the organization.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization
NATO member countries are committed to each other's mutual defense. NATO now focuses on peacekeeping, crisis management, and developing cooperative security structures for all of Europe, the United States, and Canada. The e-library offers full text of basic NATO texts and fact sheets, a press release archive, all ministerial communiquis, papers presented at conferences, the NATO Handbook, and more. Most documents are available in English and French, while some are also available in other languages of member nations.
Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development
The OECD encourages fair, sustainable economic growth around the world and is known for its accurate economic and social statistical reporting. The OECD is one of the largest publishers of international economics and public policy and the searchable website provides full-text access to hundreds of brief articles and in depth reports containing detailed statistics. Several hundred publications focus on various trade topics, including case studies, country surveys, forecasts, and economic indicators.
Organization of American States
The OAS works to support democratic values by promoting human rights and coming together to solve the problems of the Western Hemisphere. Available in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, the website has information containing the day-to-day interworking of the OAS. The publications are broken down into topics, including development, human rights, legal affairs, and security. Most of the information can be accessed for free in HTML/PDF format.

The center examines global problems through its research programs and educational initiatives. Many of the research documents are available for free.
United Nations
While the UN also includes more than 30 affiliate organizations such as the World Health Organization and UNESCO, its chief divisions are the General Assembly, the Secretariat, the Economic and Social Council, the International Court of Justice and the Security Council. The UN's mission is to maintain international peace, encourage "friendly relations among nations", and promote human rights. Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
The the non-partisan Wilson Center supports study in areas of interest to the United States through broadcasts, publications, and student outreach programs. World Bank
Publications available on the website include more than 27,000 free, downloadable documents, including operational documents (project documents, analytical and advisory work, and evaluations), formal and informal research papers, and most bank publications. Of note is the annual World Development Report (WDR), a guide to the economic, social and environmental state of the world today. Each report provides in depth analysis of a specific aspect of development such as agriculture, youth, equity, public services delivery, the role of the state, transition economies, labor, infrastructure, health, the environment, and poverty. The site also provides information about activities in its member countries, research data and statistics, international trade news, and many more resources.
World Trade Centers Association
This nonprofit, nonpolitical association facilitates international trade by bringing together exporters, importers, and service providers. The network of trade centers, affiliate companies help create innovative service for global commerce. The website includes links to international trade related websites. Most information is for members only.
World Trade Organization
The WTO is comprised of more than 150 countries that cooperate on global economic policymaking, and provides the ground rules for international commerce. The WTO produces economic research and analysis in two broad categories: annual publications that provide regular assessments of global trade, and research reports on specific topics such as the connections between trade and the environment, income disparity, and finance. On the website, students will find documents published by the WTO, including a useful guide to World Tariff Profiles, as well as information on trade topics, the full text of legal agreements with member countries, and links to publications of many member countries, news, and international trade resources.
