American Economic Association (AEA)
AEA is a membership organization and a publisher of a number of economics journals. The website provides free access to tables of contents and abstracts for association publications. AEA provides an electronic bibliography of economics literature throughout the world through the EconLit Web page with links to publishers' URLs. Brookings Institution
Involved in nonpartisan research, education, and publication in the fields of economics, government, and foreign policy. Its publications, such as policy briefs, reports, and papers, are available in full text on the website; the user can search by keyword or browse the research topics.
Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)
Part of the Department of Commerce, the BEA is a statistical agency. The agency gathers information on key issues such as economic growth, regional economic development, inter-industry relationships, and the country's position in the world economy. The national income and product accounts (NIPAs), which feature the estimates of gross domestic product (GDP) and related measures are considered the cornerstone of the agency. Access to Survey of Current Business, BEA Papers, working papers, and interactive data tables are all available.
Canadian Economics Association (CEA)
While primarily an organization for academic economists, the website does include a full-text archive of the Canadian Journal of Economics (from 1999, abstracts from 1987). Browsing through the index and abstracts is free, but access to full-text articles is restricted to individual subscribers. The association also publishes Canadian Public Policy, which reviews economic and social policy. Full-text articles are available online for all issues, but with a one year delay after the publication date. This is also a collection of Resources for Economists.

At this point in time there are there are more than 100,000 time series for which data and custom charts can be retrieved. Series can be displayed in PDF charts, excel files, or GIF charts. Most series are interactive and allow you to transform or reverse the series.

History of Economic Thought
An encyclopedia and instructional resource. Several hundred historic and working economists, as well as economic and social philosophers and theorists, are portrayed in this work. References to representative works, photographs, and brief descriptions of the works accompany most. Over 60 schools of thought are described, including Schools of Political Economy: Pre-Classical and Classical; Neoclassical Schools; and Anglo-American and Continental Thematic Schools. Essays explain theory of value, macroeconomics, microeconomics, and many other topics grouped under these themes. A virtual library of links to primary sources, instructional resources, and more is also provided.
Joint Economic Committee (JEC)
The committee reviews economic conditions and recommends improvements in federal economic policy. JEC research and studies are posted at the website. The JEC provides economic information on prices, wages, production, business activity, purchasing power, credit, money, and federal finance via the monthly Economic Indicators, prepared for the JEC by the Council of Economic Advisors. The historical Economic Indicators, searchable from April 1995 and browsable from 1998, are available at the GPO FDsys website.
National Association for Business Economics
The NABE holds several seminars per year and is the publisher of the quarterly journal Business Economics, which can be searched at the website; most full-text articles are available to members, however.
National Bureau of Economic Research
Economic analysis is the primary mission of this nonpartisan organization, concentrating on developing new statistical measurements, estimating quantitative models of economic behavior, assessing the effects of public policies on the U.S. economy, and projecting the effects of alternative policy proposals. Working papers are searchable by keyword, title, author, or working paper number. Abstracts are available at the site and the full text can be purchased from SSRN.com. The website provides links to additional economic data and resources.
Peter G. Peterson Institute for International Economics
The IIE has provided nonpartisan analysis and solutions for international economic problems from a macroeconomic point of view. The website provides access to full-text working papers on current economic issues and text of the speeches, testimony, and essays given and written by the staff of the IIE.
Statistical Abstract of the United States
An annual publication (the most recent is 2012) produced by the Census Bureau and focusing on social and economic statistics. The reporter go back to 1878.
The Virtual Library on Microcredit
Sponsored by the Global Development Research Center and covering topics like micro-credit, community development, NGOs, poverty, the environment, and micro-enterprises. Documents and resources are also organized by special themes and key focus areas found on the home page. Using strategies, success stories in the form of case studies and best practices, theoretical and practical articles, and governmental and organizational resources the site presents a wealth of information on alternative, non-conventional financial systems and microcredit." The site is available in English, French, Spanish, and Japanese.
World Bank Group Countries and Regions
On this searchable site, you may either click on a regional map or a list of topics to get news from the World Bank and/or full text of World Bank reports. The World Bank classifies economies by using the gross national income per capita. Countries are classified by geographic region, income, and indebtedness. Some reports are in PDF format and are easy to read. Some reports are available as Word documents or as unformatted text that are difficult to read but are still useful.
